The East Union freshmen did not give up a score until late in the game Thursday and crushed visiting El Capitan-Merced 39-7 in non-league play at Dino Cunial Field..

 Patrick Shouland ground out 134 yards rushing to lead the Lancers’ 300-yard ground attack. Angel Sena threw two touchdown passes – one of 10 yards to Isaiah Cormier and another of 33 yards to Deon Mackson – and ran one in himself. Mackson added a 6-yard touchdown run with Jake Harries scoring from 3 yards out and Miguel Lopez on a 1-yard plunge.

 Mackson had six tackles and a quarterback sack, Lopez five tackles and Harries, Cormier and Shouland four each. Cormier recovered an onside kick.

 The Lancers improved to 3-0.



Manteca 24, Los Banos 14



Two Buffaloes fumble recoveries led to two first-half Eddie Santos touchdowns to key the non-league road win for Manteca

 In the first quarter, Francisco Salcedo recovered a Tigers fumble near midfield and Santos capped off the ensuing drive with a 3-yard touchdown plunge for an 8-0 Buffaloes lead.

 Deep in Manteca territory in the second quarter, Domingo Vargas recovered a Los Banos fumble leading to a five-minute, 89-yard Manteca drive capped by a 2-yard Santos scoring plunge and a 16-0 lead.

 Gerson Gomez scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter to boost the Buffaloes lead to 24-8 before Los Banos scored late in the contest to make the final 24-14.

Salcedo finished with two fumble recoveries.

 

Sierra 49, Chavez 0

The Timberwolves put up 20 first-quarter points and never looked back in the non-league contest Friday at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

 Brandon Arreola was the workhorse for Sierra with nine carries for 141 yards with a 10-yard touchdown run and a 39-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Wesley, the only Timberwolves completion of the day. Marcos Castillo scored on runs of 14 and 25 yards, gaining 82 yards on five carries. SeuSeu Alofaituli had two touchdowns on just three carries for 36 yards, scoring on 9- and 15-yards runs.

 Nashon Tamiano had a sack for safety and Wesley returned the ensuing kickoff 54 yards for a touchdown.
