The East Union sophomores battled back to score two late touchdowns but came up short on the go-ahead two-point conversion attempt as host Kimball held on for a 14-13 win in Valley Oak League action at Don Nicholson Stadium, the first-ever high-school win for the Jaguars sophomore class.

With 6:20 left in the game, Jack Weaver spotted Austin Miller for a 52-yard touchdown pass to draw the Lancers within 14-7. On fourth down and 10 yards to go for a first down with 2:10 left in the game, Weaver and Miller connected for a 61-yard scoring pass, drawing within 14-13. East Union went for the two-point conversion via a fake extra-point kick but the throw was knocked away to give Kimball the win.

Miller had three receptions for 122 yards and Weaver completed 10 of 13 passes for 181 yards.

The Lancers forced three turnovers in the first half but failed to capitalize on them. Weaver and Daniel Ramos each had an interception and Joel Melena a fumble recovery for East Union. Melena and Alex Martell each had eight stops and Weaver and Marcus Panelo both had seven.
