Terrance Montgomery and Jonathan Morales led the East Union junior varsity to a 27-0 thumping of visiting Placer to wrap up the non-league schedule undefeated Friday night at Dino Cunial Stadium.

Morales (159 yards passing) threw touchdown passes of 18 yards and 21 yards to Montgomery (59 yards receiving) and 65 yards to Izaiah Fay (79 yards receiving), Montgomery added the other Lancers touchdown on a 44-yard punt return.

East Union’s Zack Behrbaum was all over the field with 15 tackles. Andon Robinson (fumble recovery) added 10 stops with three each for Issac Estrada, Bryce Hinrichs, Ayden Brush, Austin Robinson, Angelo Cervantes and Andres Duque.

The Lancers travel to Modesto on Friday to face Central Catholic at 5 p.m.

Lathrop 26, Johansen 14

Trailing 6-0 after the first period, Michael Herron scored two of the four Spartans touchdown to open the Western Athletic Conference campaign with a win.

Herron (10 carries, 137 yards; four receptions, 37 yards) posted touchdown runs of 10 and 85 yards. Jasson Massey scored on his lone carry of 30 yards. Cesar Rivera was 5 of 10 passing for 57 yards and Bentley Spicer recovered an onside kick.

Joshua Jones tallied the other Lathrop touchdown on a 75-yard interception return. Aden Elizando posted five stops and Desmond Hawkins four.

The Spartans play next on Friday, Oct. 9, at Livingston at 5 p.m.

Manteca 40, Patterson 14

Vinnie Diaz cut loose for three touchdowns and more than 200 yards for the Buffaloes in Valley Oak League action at Patterson Community Stadium.

Diaz (13 carries, 208 yards) scored on runs of 21, 28 and 41 yards. Santino Sanchez (eight carries, 83 yards) scored on a 10-yard run, Anthony Bowen (two carries, 71 yards; 5 of 11 passing, 50 yards) added a 60-yard touchdown scamper and Aiden Carreiro scored from 3 yards out. Noah Horne pulled in three receptions for 43 yards.

Manteca’s Jacob Hernandez made six tackles, Isaiah Ramirez and Isaac Fountain five apiece and Devin Cortinas three. Nathan Reyes snagged an interception.

The Buffaloes host Mountain House on Friday at 5 p.m.

Ripon Christian 34, Escalon 6

The Knights never trailed to open the Trans-Valley League schedule at Engel Field.

Parker Grotberg (12 carries, 98 yards) scored on runs of 6 and 42 yards. Ryder Heuvel (4 of 8 passing, 44 yards) found Dane Nemeth (three receptions, 43 yards) with a 17-yard touchdown pass and J.P. Postma scored on a 25-yard run.

Ripon Christian’s Charlie Zylstra was a monster on defense, blocking a punt and returning it 34 yards for a touchdown, recovering a fumble and making nine tackles. Parker Grotberg added eight stops, Luke Veneman six, Hudson Anthony five and Jack Acosta four. Deegan Vrieling added two interceptions.

The Knights host Sonora on Friday at 5 p.m.

Oakdale 50, Sierra 0

Issac Penaloza led the visiting Timberwolves offense with 58 yards on five carries in Valley Oak League action at the Corral.

Sierra’s Messiah Fernandez added 41 all-purpose yards. Nicholas Jimenez, Bruce Wedlow-Jones, Brayden Vargas-Daniels, Gabriel Arias, and Brody Geer all contributed to the offense.

Nicholas Jimenez led the Timberwolves defense with 11 tackles. Jo'syah Barry added six stops, Gabriel Ceren and Uday Singh four apiece with three each for Anthony Tamayo and Lizandro Saucedo. Zohaib Rangooni, Bruce Wedlow-Jones, Jeffrey Braga, Aaron Smith, Issac Penaloza, Gabriel Arias, Brayden Vargas-Daniels and Noah Aguilar all contributed to the defense.

Sierra travels to Mountain House on Friday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m.

Calaveras 42, River Islands 0

The host Riptide offense could not get its footing in Mother Lode League action.

Brandon Valencia, Isaiah Carey and Abel Figueroa tallied three tackles apiece for River Islands.

The Riptide offense travels up the hill on Friday to face Summerville at 5 p.m.

Logan Martinez scored three times and ran for more than 200 yards for the Spartans on the road Thursday.

Martinez (nine carries, 204 yards) scored on runs of 13, 55 and 58 yards. Zyann Reyno (eight carries, 62 yards) added a 2-yard touchdown burst and Kenneth Certuche chipped in a 1-yard touchdown plunge.

Lathrop’s Carlos Rivera (fumble recovery) and Pablo Barbo tallied seven stops apiece and JuanPablo Flores added five stops. Derrion Hawkins, Kenneth Certuche and Logan Martinez chipped in three stops apiece.

The Spartans play at home Friday against Pacheco at 5 p.m.

Manteca 29, Monterey Trail 6

Landon Viss tallied three touchdowns for the Buffaloes in the non-league tilt at Guss Schmiedt Field.

Viss (16 carries for 178 yards; one reception, 20 yards) scored on runs of 10, 19 and 27 yards. Kristian Miranda-Alvarez started the Manteca scoring with a 50-yard touchdown run on the Buffaloes’ second play from scrimmage.

Manteca travels to Mountain House on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Oakdale 35, Sierra 0

Noah Olage picked up 50 yards for the Timberwolves at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

Sierra has a week off before hosting Mountain House on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m.
