- John Bowers, Sierra senior: The Bulletin’s All-Area Cross Country Runner of the Year in the fall qualified for the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Meet in both distance events. After winning the Valley Oak League’s 3,200-meter race, he placed third in the same event as well as the 1,600 in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III meet.
- Kolton Cody, Sierra junior: Area’s top sprinter was instrumental in the Timberwolves’ run to the SJS Division-III title. Won the 100-meter dash and took second in the 200 in league and was a part of the winning 4x100 relay team in the VOL and D-III meets. He qualified for Masters in all three events.
- Ulysses Knapps, Sierra junior: Double-event winner in the long jump and triple jump at the VOL meet went on to win the SJS Division III long jump with a career best mark of 22 feet, 6 ½ inches. Placed sixth in the SJS Masters Meet at 21-10 and also qualified in the triple.
- Angell Mayfield, Weston Ranch senior: The area’s lone qualifier for the state meet in 2009, when he placed sixth in the 110 hurdles, started the postseason with a bang, winning four events (200, 400, both hurdles) in the VOL meet. But his decorated prep career ended on a sour note, as he was disqualified from the SJS D-III 110 and 300 hurdle finals.
- Hector Solorio, East Union senior: One of three standout hurdlers in the area, Solorio was the VOL’s runner-up finisher in the 300 but won the event in the D-III meet after Mayfield was disqualified. He set a personal record at 39.59 seconds in the Masters Trials to advance as the sixth seed, but a stumble early in the final race kept him out of contention for a possible state berth.
