Another day, another win for the Valley Oak League leading Manteca High boys tennis team.

Coach Frank Fontana was especially pleased with Thursday’s 9-0 shutout of visiting Oakdale. That’s because his six singles players combined to lose just 12 games.

“It was an impressive performance out of the singles players today,” Fontana said.

Oral Nunis coasted to a 6-0, 6-2 win in the battle of No. 1s. Michael Lopez (6-2, 6-1), Jacob Webb (6-2, 6-0), Yok-Jing Ma (6-1, 6-0), Chris Kloska (6-0, 6-0) and Jorge Sierra (6-1, 6-3) all remain undefeated in VOL play.

In doubles, the No. 3 pair of Angel Tehada and Izham Reger claimed the only three-set match, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Alex Vazquez and Thomas Reza won, 6-4, 6-2. Sam Dhaliwal and Puneet Sandhu also swept, 6-3, 6-3.

The Buffaloes (7-0, 10-4 overall) will host the Manteca Invitational for the first time, starting with the singles tournament that starts at 8 this morning. The doubles tournament begins at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Kimball 7, Sierra 2

Forrest Tolman defeated Kevin Sung 6-0, 6-2 to lead Sierra, which scored its other point via default at No. 3 doubles.

No. 3 singles player Raymond Bailon (4-6, 6-4, 1-6) and No. 6 Austin Vietor (3-6, 6-4, 3-6) were involved in the two most competitive contests.
