Vengeance may be the Lord’s, but Manteca got its own revenge Thursday night, eliminating River Valley of Yuba City from the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III baseball championships by the same score the Falcons eliminated the Buffaloes in 2015 – 3-2 – at McAuliffe Memorial Ballparks in Sacramento.

Tyler Graves-Kelso had a one-hit shutout going into the seventh inning when River Valley (19-8-1) got two more hits and two runs. Graves-Kelso struck out four and walked one.

“I am really proud of how tough we played and grinded out seven innings,” Manteca coach Neil MacDannald said. “We hit four or five lasers that their center fielder that he made some remarkable plays to run down.”

The Buffaloes (20-7) took a 2-0 lead on a two-out two-RBI double by Sam Rohovit in the second inning. Manteca added an insurance run with a solo home run by Kyle Rachels in the sixth. Alex Gouveia was 2 for 3 for Manteca.

The Buffaloes open a best two-of-three semifinal series with Vista del Lago of Folsom on Saturday at 3 p.m. All games will be played at McAuliffe Memorial Ballparks.
