Asia Cortez was a perfect 3 for 3 on first-half shot attempts and was one of two Sierra Timberwolves to tally a hat trick in their 11-0 blowout of Weston Ranch at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium Wednesday.

Cortez, who also assisted three goals, helped Sierra (4-2-1, 8-4-3 overall) stake a 7-0 halftime lead and close to within three points of second-place Manteca High in the Valley Oak League standings.

“It was one of those games we used to work on things we’ve been training on in practice,” Sierra coach Manuel Pires said. “We were able to bring it onto the field and put a good game together. We were also able to get our subs a lot of playing time.”

Naomi Nunis added three goals, and Ashley Sohal contributed four assists. Sophomore Tiffany Quezada recorded her first goal of the season and assisted two others. Sydnee Canales chimed in with a goal and an assist, Alexis Young and Jacquelin Revives each scored once and even senior goalkeeper Lia Unterholzner found the net for her first varsity goal.
