East Union resumes march to Valley Oak League title

Freshman Brooke Riley edged out fellow Lancer Brittany Ugalino by a stroke for low-medalist recognition, and the tandem led East Union to a 224-263 victory over crosstown rival Sierra Tuesday at Manteca Park Golf Course.

East Union improved to 9-0 in the Valley Oak League, while the Timberwolves stumbled to 4-6.

Riley finished 4-over-par 41. Angelique Cardoza carded the third lowest score with a 44. Jordan Vinson (48) and Kimmy LaMar (49) also posted sub-50 scores.

Lexus Barnes and Elia Vazquez each checked in with a 46 to lead the Timberwolves. Melanie Kiesel (52), Vanessa Rodriguez (55) and McKenna Doyle (64) made up the rest of the team’s score.

Weston Ranch vs. Oakdale

The Cougars secured their first win of the season as host Oakdale was a player short of fielding a full squad.

Mustang Dylanie Donahue was the top individual at Oakdale Country Club with a 47. Jenna Heaton followed with a 51.

For Weston Ranch, Jonelle Mungcal recorded a 55 while Lydia McDonald contributed a 57.

Southern League

Ripon Christian 158, Riverbank 166

At the par-31 Escalon Golf Course, the Knights (5-3) came through for a big victory against a competitive Riverbank squad (2-6).

Jenny Wickham nearly broke even with her impressive 32. Vanessa Vallo and Kaitlyn Groshong were also solid for the Knights with their 41s. Robyn Reyes rounded out RC’s score with a 44.

Tori Sandoval spearheaded the Bruins with a 37.
