Lathrop’s girls basketball team completed a perfect run through the first half of its Western Athletic Conference schedule Thursday, bursting past visiting Los Banos 37-30 thanks to a tide-turning third-quarter eruption.

“The goal was to get to the halfway point unblemished and get a look at everybody,” Lathrop coach Dwayne Davis said. “We’ll make adjustments in the second half and go from there, but we like the position we are in.”

The Spartans (7-0 WAC, 14-6 overall) are two games ahead of second-place Mountain House, but five of their remaining seven contests will be on the road.

Marianna Delgado spearheaded the surge, scoring 11 of her game-high 15 points while knocking down three 3s in the third period. Tatiana Lowery contributed to the run with all of her seven points.

Los Banos (3-3, 10-10), which jumped out to a 15-6 first-quarter lead, was led by America Estrada’s 14 points.
