Ripon Christian High’s boys basketball team played for the outright championship of the Southern League Friday in Ripon, and the game offered little drama.

Not that coach Ron Vander Molen is complaining.

His Knights (12-0, 20-5 overall) shot out to a 25-2 first-quarter lead and wrapped up sole possession of the championship by pounding Turlock Christian, 69-46.

They earned the co-championship Tuesday when they edged second-place Denair, 74-73. It’s the program’s first conference title since capturing the Trans Valley League crown 2001.

Logan Vos picked up right where he left off from Tuesday’s career-best effort when he fired in 36 points and hit eight 3-pointers. On Friday, he scored 12 of his team-high 20 points in the first quarter.

Danny Vos added 10 points for RC.

Ripon Christian defended TC’s Brandon Rodgers well for three quarters, when he was limited to 13 points, before he had his way with the Knights’ substitutes. The Sac-Joaquin Section’s third leading scorer ended up with 27 points, which matches his per-game average for the season.

The Falcons fell to 1-11 in the Southern League.
