Ripon beats Bret Harte in 1st-place battle

ANGELS CAMP – Ripon High sits atop of the Valley Foothill Hill League-North Division standings following a 188-215 victory over Bret Harte on Thursday.

“My girls knew this was a big match and they put together another solid effort,” said Indians coach Eric Dambrosio.

Ripon’s top player Laura Williams claimed the medalist honor, carding a 43 at the Greenhorn Creek golf course.

Alex Gonzales (45) trailed by two strokes in the par-36 nine-hole course.

Bianca Toledo (47) and Breena Huckell (53) rounded out the scoring for the Indians, who improved to 5-0 in league while Bret Harte dropped to 4-1.

Hannah Ellsworth (50) posted the top score for Bret Harte (4-1), with Nicole Ayala (53), Jessie Thompson (54) and Olivia Fonseca (58) also helping out.

 

East Union 250,

Weston Ranch 344

Kennedy Goodenough has only been playing golf for a month.

The East Union High newcomer broke 50, shooting a 48 against Weston Ranch at the nine-hole Van Buskirk Municipal Golf Course in Stockton.

“She’s improved in every match,” said Lancers coach Dennis Wells.

East Union (6-2 VOL) was led by Natalie Gowan, who carded a seven-over-par 43. Teammate Haley Leonard (46) finished three strokes behind the leader.

Kendra Campbell (54) and Presley Graham (59) also contributed to the win.

The Cougars were led by Sierra Stambler (57).

Supreet Sandhu, who is a newcomer to the sport, had her first par while finishing with a 71.

Weston Ranch will host Kimball on Tuesday while the Lancers will entertain Sierra that same day at the Manteca Park Golf Course.

 

Sierra 266,

Lathrop 384

The Timberwolves defeated Lathrop at Manteca Park.

Legacy Barnes paced the way, firing an eight-over-par 45 in the nine-hole course for Sierra (3-4 VOL).

Teammate Bryanna Gavino finished one stroke back, shooting a 46.

Kaitlyn Looney (56) and Aubrey White (58) also chipped in for the victory.

The Spartan scores were as followed – Chloe Malicaot (71), Abagail Lee (75), Kaitlyn Edrington (75) and Eghosa Ogbeida (80).
