ROUNDUP: Manteca softball routs Lathrop for 1st win of season

Manteca's softball team tallied its first win of the season, thumping visiting Lathrop 10-0 in five innings on Friday. The non-league tilt was the season-opener for Lathrop.

The Buffaloes, who are 0-4 in Valley Oak League play, broke through in every facet. They enjoyed best offensive outing of the early season, jump starting the assault with a four-run first inning and finishing with 10 hits. 

Kiana Briseno (2 for 2, 2B, two RBIs), Mohrgen Kissee (2 for 3, 2B, four RBIs), Madison Bridewell (2 for 3, 2B, RBI) and Baylee Willenbrink (2 for 3, SB, two runs) did much of the damage. Kissee also pitched four innings, striking out six while scattering four hits. Grace Rosas closed it out and faced four batters.


GIRLS SOCCER

Manteca 5, Edison 0

The Buffaloes improved to 2-0 with the road win. They next face Ripon Christian on Monday. 

Manteca shot out to a 3-0 halftime lead, getting goals from Isabella Avila, Corrine Jones and Cameron Silva. Sienna Jones and Alexia Alva scored in the second half. Kaylee Gines and Sienna Jones contributed assists.
