Lathrop’s girls golf team edged out visiting Ceres 367-372 in a Western Athletic Conference dual match at Manteca Park Golf Course on Thursday.

Co-low medalist honors went to Ceres’ Bailey Roberts and Abby Sanchez with 68s.

Savanna Quezada led Lathrop with a 71. She was followed by a pair of 73s from Shelby Jauregui and Rachael Rami. Jade Preciado and Anjelica Dela Cruz rounded out the Spartans’ score with 75s.

Ripon 149, Hughson 171

Ripon continued its dominant run in the Trans Valley League.

Cameron Seefeldt and Grace Ortmann led the way with 3-over-par 34s. Cailyn Young added a 39, and Brynn Daley a 42.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

East Union 3, Patterson 0

The Lancers (2-6, 10-11 overall) picked up a needed Valley Oak League win with the 25-12, 25-23, 25-12 sweep.

Jedah Haywood led the attack with 10 kills and three aces. Camille Christensen pitched in three kills and an ace. Lilyan Frye recorded 12 assists and six aces.

Ripon Christian 3, Orestimba 0

The Knights (3-4 TVL, 10-10 overall) followed up their impressive win over Hilmar with a dominant 25-9, 25-7, 25-10 sweep at home.

Alyssa Hofman produced nine kills, two blocks and two aces for RC. Kylie Koolhaas contributed five kills and four blocks.

Rhian Heuvel handed out 17 assists. Coco Duarte and Lauren Mouw led the back row with six digs each.

River Islands 3, Turlock Christian 0

River Islands (5-0, 8-11 overall) rolled to the 25-10, 25-8, 25-11 road win.

Corley Simoni compiled nine kills and 13 assists to lead the Riptide. Leighann Ruiz also rapped nine kills, and Makaylah Samoranos netted 16 assists. Jaselle Cliatt added five kills. Isabella Carrillo anchored the back row.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Lathrop 25, Bear Creek 0

Ja’Leiyah Ray scored on touchdowns runs of 28 and 3 yards, while adding a 39-yard score via the air in the lopsided non-league win for Lathrop (14-2).

The fourth-year senior finished with 135 scrimmage yards on 10 touches.

Aviahna Calderon passed for 156 yards and two touchdowns, one of them a 12-yard connection to Jaylah Seabron.

Marilyn Nungaray highlighted the defense with seven flag pulls and three pass break-ups. Sareah Reed contributed with an interception.

GIRLS TENNIS

Manteca 7, Patterson 2

The Buffaloes’ top-three players made quick work of their opponents in 6-0, 6-0 wins during the VOL match at Manteca Regional Tennis Center. Manteca improved to 7-2 in league, 11-6-2 overall.

No. 5 player Paisley Coenenberg added a 6-0,6-2 win, and No. 6 Ekam Ghuman prevailed, 6-1, 6-1.

Alyson Alvarado and Cat Estrada Perez took the No. 2 doubles match, 6-1, 6-0. Ryan Gomes and Juliana Ros won at No. 3, 6-2, 7-5.

Patterson won a three-setter at No. 4 singles, as Johanna Amezquita downed Saihaj Ghuman, 7-5, 2-6, 10-6. The Tigers’ top doubles tandem of Vanessa Velazquez and Katelynn Chavez defeated Ziqi Huang and Caitlyn Vu, 6-3, 6-1.

JV girls volleyball

East Union 2, Patterson 0

Sophia Quezada anchored the East Union attack with 10 assists and four kills.

Jesabel Terran served up eight aces. Addie Souza added three aces to go with four kills. Janelle Lopez pitched in three kills and two aces.

Ripon Christian 2, Orestimba 0

It was all Ripon Christian in the 25-3, 25-11 sweep.

Audrey Jung netted six kills and two aces. Kendal Cho fired three aces, and Kate Strickland had two. Gabbi McCormick distributed 13 assists.

The Knights’ freshman team took on Hughson, winning 25-15, 25-17.

Frosh girls volleyball

East Union 2, Patterson 0

The Lancers cruised to the 25-15, 25-14 victory.

They were led by setter Payton Bowers (10 assists), Brooklyn Fideldy (eight aces), Genesis Harris (seven kills) and Elianna Lucero (seven digs).
