Guido Dulay Abellera, MD, a family physician who cared for the greater Stockton and San Joaquin County communities for decades, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026.

Born on March 31,1950 to Dr. Quintin Acosta Abellera and Edita Dulay Abellera, Guido grew up in Baguio City, Philippines with his four siblings (Marietta Abellera Sumaquial, MD, Corazon Abellera Galvez, DMD, Carlo D. Abellera, MD, and Mary Ann Abellera Garcia, BSN).  He graduated from the University of the Philippines Manila College of Medicine in 1974.  After immigrating to the United States, he completed his medical residency at Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

In 1979, Guido moved with his family to Stockton, California where he established a private practice in the downtown Filipino Plaza. He later moved his practice to the Waterfront Medical and Dental Building and expanded his care to include geriatrics.

Beyond his medical practice, Guido approached life with a distinctly independent and vibrant energy.  As a family patriarch, Guido took immense pride in caring for his loved ones.  As a father, he prioritized excellence in his home, demanding the best from his children while surrounding them with unwavering love and support.      

Guido’s memory will be forever treasured by his loving family who will continue to honor his remarkable life through acts of kindness, prayers, and strengthening family bonds.
