Manteca’s girls volleyball team racked up its fifth straight win on Monday after escaping Mountain House 22-25, 26-24, 25-16, 25-21 in Valley Oak League play.

Taimane Tu’uga led the Buffaloes (2-1, VOL, 8-3 overall) with 24 kills, 11 digs, four aces and two assists. Ariceli McBroom added 15 kills and 22 digs. Trinity Todd also swatted down 15 kills to go with four blocks and three digs. Kyndall Newquist chipped in three kills and two aces.

Setter Katie Anderson amassed 44 assists, 16 digs and two kills. Chloe Martin paced the back row with 15 digs and was joined by Maddie Nunes (10 digs) and Lana Bondoc (six digs, three aces).

East Union 3, Patterson 0

The Lancers (2-1, 8-3 overall) dominated the VOL match at Dalben Center, 25-7, 25-6, 25-15.

Lilyan Frye fired eight service aces to go with six assists and three kills. Lucija Dayeh pitched in six assists, seven kills, three aces and two digs. Camille Christensen added four kills and two digs.

Lathrop 3, Ceres 0

Lathrop (2-0 Western Athletic Conference, 9-3 overall) picked up its eighth consecutive win with the 25-5, 25-15, 25-14 sweep Monday at Greg Leland Gym.

Siliana Fa’ataualofa spearheaded the Spartans with 13 kills, five digs and three aces. Erin Chunn chimed in with eight kills and three digs. Malia Fa’ataualofa and Andrea Lemus added five kills apiece.

Sariah Hilton registered 26 assists and two aces. Juliet Tara tallied seven assists and five digs.

River Islands 3, Kimball 0

The Riptide (3-8) picked up its third win in five matches on Monday, sweeping visiting Kimball (3-9), 25-18, 25-19, 25-19.

Corley Simoni led them with 17 assists, nine kills and three aces. Makaylah Kai Samoranos contributed five kills and eight assists.

Niamae Devera collected 11 service points, two aces and three kills. Jaselle Cliatt came up with two blocks.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Lathrop 38 Ceres 0

Ja’Leiyah Ray had her way on both sides of scrimmage in the WAC shutout at Ceres (2-1, 4-7 overall).

She completed 18 passes of 33 passes for 187 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. On defense, she picked off two passes, one of which she ran back for a touchdown.

She hit Tianna Gonzalez for TD passes of 3 and 8 yards, and Sareah Reed for a 1-yard TD. Faith Allen caught five passes for 49 yards and contributed an extra point on a reception.

The Spartans (3-0, 7-2) were led by Isabela Espinosa’s six flag pulls and four sacks. Reed contributed five tackles and a pick-6.

GIRLS TENNIS

California Classic

Manteca went 0-4 playing in the Division II pool but gained valuable experience against top competition last weekend.

The Buffaloes (7-5-1) lost to both Woodcreek of Roseville and Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland 4-2 on Friday at JFK Middle School in Fresno. They were then matched with Gregori on Day 2 at Clovis North High, falling 4-2. Manteca closed with a 3-3 tie against Pleasant Valley of Chico but lost on a tiebreaker.

Nos. 1 and 2 singles players Haile Kim and Reina Ngo both went 4-0 for the tournament. Saihaj Ghuman, Ekam Ghuman, Rae Limbago, Paisley Coenenberg, Alyson Alvarado, Naomi Navarro and Ziqi Huang made up the rest of the Buffaloes’ tournament lineup.

The Lancers swept, 25-12, 25-14.

Chloe Owens served eight points and two aces, while providing five assist and two kills to the attack. Addie Souza added five points, four kills and three digs.

Lathrop 2, Ceres 0

Zakia Booker led Lathrop with six kills, six aces and two digs in the 25-16, 25-19 sweep.

Elsa Johnson contributed five kills, and Ne’Myah Belion added three to go with four digs.

Arianna Sheel picked up five digs. Cassidy Fa’ali’i dished out 17 assists, while producing three aces and two digs.

Alexia Garcia provided much of the offense with two rushing touchdowns.

The rest was left up the defense headed by Ryleigh Race and her two interceptions. Jacqueline Avalos and Shaina Ignacio each had an interception of their own. Ailyn Alcaraz recorded three sacks and a flag pull for loss.

East Union dominated, 25-4, 25-10.

Payton Bowers led the attack with three kills, four assists and four service points. Genesis Harris fired three kills. Rosa Romero recorded two kills, five assists and two digs.

Lathrop 2, Ceres 0

Kyla Swan rung up 10 service aces, as the Spartans rolled to the 25-8, 25-11 sweep.

Naomi Kim contributed three aces, Liona Lauaki crushed a pair of kills and Jessica Reff handed out four assists.
