TURLOCK — Jadyn Shinn scored once in each half, and it was enough for the Sierra girls soccer team to come away with a 2-0 road win against Pitman on Wednesday.

Jenny Rivera assisted the first goal with a cross from the right side. Shinn struck again with a free kick. Minty Doyle had a chance to widen the margin in the second half but had a shot deflect off the crossbar.

Goalie Callie Crain had a relatively uneventful night, finishing with two saves.

“We had a few players injured but some people stepped up pretty well,” Sierra coach Manuel Pires said. “We played tough on the defensive side and were able to create some nice opportunities in the second half. I was happy with the way the girls played.”

Sierra (3-1) hosts its annual Vern Gebhardt Champions Cup on Friday and Saturday. The Timberwolves open with Patterson at 12:30 p.m.

West 2, Lathrop 1

TRACY — Lathrop (0-2) tied at 1-1 on Cassandra Ceja’s goal assisted by Jessica McNair, but the Wolf Pack (3-2-1) buried the go-ahead score with 12 minutes to go.

“We lost to them 6-0 last year, so we’re putting some good things together,” Lathrop coach Jose Montes said. “A couple of mistakes hurt us, but my girls played hungry today. They challenged every 50-50 ball, and when I moved girls around they adapted well to it. That’s a good sign.”

Manteca 3, Lincoln 0

The Buffaloes (2-1-1) were able to salvage a tie behind two goals from freshman Kaley Miller and one from Jocelyn Reyes.

Samantha Rascon scored twice for the visiting Trojans (1-0-1).
