Shinns hat trick, 2 assists lead Sierra drubbing of West

Win No. 401 came easily for Sierra girls soccer coach Manuel Pires.

The Timberwolves thoroughly dominated visiting West of Tracy on Monday, as sophomore Jadyn Shinn scored three goals and assisted two others in a 7-0 rout at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

Sierra (2-1) opened the season with Pires’ 400th career victory last Thursday but lost the next night to Gregori, 4-3.

Yasmin Ballew and Kaleigh Doyle each had a goal and an assist. Kyndra Kiser and Daisy Valencia scored one apiece, while Nikayla Turner and Jenny Rivera contributed with assists. The Timberwolves were well ahead 3-0 by halftime.

Callie Crain and Michaela Bitle shared time at goal and kept the sheet clean.

 

Tracy 5, Manteca 3

Manteca (2-1) was shut out in the first half for the first time this season while visiting Tracy built a 3-0 lead.

The Buffaloes came alive in the second half, getting two goals from Madison Burch and one from Kaitlynn Funsch. Jocelyn Reyes assisted all three goals.

“We had some opportunities in the first half, we just didn’t capitalize,” Manteca coach Justin Coenenberg said. “We made some costly mistakes on the defensive third, let them get off shots in the box and had poor marking on crosses. They’re things we can definitely fix.”

 

East Union 1, Gregori 0

MODESTO — Skylar Treacy knocked in the lone goal in the seventh minute after Britney Moneyhun delivered a corner kick.

It was all defense from there for the Lancers (2-1). Goalie Isabella Cruz racked up three saves.
