Grant Sonke got host Ripon Christian going with an early goal, and then he went on to assist the team’s next three as the Knights held off Waterford 4-3 for their first Southern Athletic League victory of the season.
The sophomore forward got the Knights (1-3-1, 4-9-1 overall) on the scoreboard in the eighth minute and was set up by Drew Meester. He then had a hand in goals netted by Isaiah Vander Woude in the 12th minute, Meester in the 46th and David Koolhaas in the 75th.
Visiting Waterford (1-4, 1-9-1) mounted a late comeback with two late goals but was ultimately thwarted by RC goalkeeper Silas Vander Woude, who finished with 15 saves. The win is the Knights’ first in a month, going 0-5-1 since before meeting the Wildcats.

Ceres 1, Lathrop 0
The Spartans (4-2, 6-7-1 overall) dropped their fourth straight and could not muster a goal after beating Ceres (2-1, 4-5) 3-2 last month in Western Athletic Conference play.
Ripon Christian 5, Waterford 0
Goalie Tara Heida Ripon Christian (3-0-1, 10-4-2) lied their sixth shutout of the season.
Addison DeJong opened scoring in the 10th minute and finished with a brace to go with an assist. Helia Vander Meulen and Sarah Vander Veen each contributed a goal and an assist. Jeane Oosterman contributed a goal.
Sierra 4, Oakdale 2
Jocelin Roa shouldered the scoring load for Sierra (4-0 VOL, 9-3-1 overall), accounting for all four of her team’s goals. Payton Abrew and Juliana Rodriguez each had an assist. Zoe Sandoval notched two saves.

Lathrop 6, Ceres 1
Janessa Ward amassed four goals for Lathrop, while Madilyn Martinez added two goals and an assist. Alejandra Lopez also had an assist.
