After a softball season that saw the Escalon Cougars put together another Sac-Joaquin Section Division V Championship run, Ripon and Ripon Christian high schools saw the reward of their hard work payoff with the announcing of the All-Trans Valley League team.
Three Indinas and a single Ripon Christian standout were honored with first-team all-TVL spots, with Ripon’s Nicole Kaiser, Paulina Ceja and Kirsten Mortimer earning berths. Katie Thomas of Ripon Christian rounded out the quartet of area players to be recognized on the squad.
Mortimer batted over .300 for the Indians and was second on the club in strikeouts from the circle. Her best attribute may have been her power, connecting for a team-high four homeruns in her 74 at bat’s. Kaiser was as impressive, leading Ripon in hits (32) and doubles (8) while finishing second on the squad with six stolen bases.
Ceja posted a loft .429 on base percentage, while finishing tied for second on the team in hits with 17. Ceja also stroked four doubles and came around to score 17 times. Ripon Christian’s Thomas finished the season with a .342 clip, leading her club in hits, runs, triples and RBIs.
