TRACY — The Manteca Futbol Club United captured the under-15 girls championship of the 3rd Annual Tracy Bowl at Plasencia Fields Monday.

United wrapped up the four-day event with a 1-0 victory over Burlingame SC Phoenix. Sialei Manuleleua scored the deciding goal with 17 minutes left in the championship match, finishing off a nice feed from Samantha Greiman.

Burlingame had a good shot to tie it but was thwarted by a nice save from the Manteca FC keeper. The United defense hung tough for the remainder of the contest to clinch the championship.

Manteca FC’s defense gave up just one goal in its four tournament games, and it came in the first match Friday in a 3-1 win against Tracy Futbol Club Revolution, a team United had never previously beaten.

Kayla Lamont scored one and assisted Melissa Gomez’s goal. Sammie Morris added the insurance goal in the second half. Greiman and Manuleleua each added an assist.

Manteca FC was in cruise control after getting past its first hurdle, beating its next two opponents by 2-0 margins.

United capped pool play with a two-goal win against Cap FC United. Greiman accounted for one of the goals.

In the semifinals, United defeated NCSA Premier with goals coming from Asia Cortez and Greiman.

Under-17 girls
Playing in the under-19 bracket, the Manteca FC Extreme fared well and placed third in the Orange Bowl Monday.

In pool play, Extreme battled Laguna Pibas and Carson Futbol Impulse each to 1-1 draws. Laguna and Carson also battled to a 1-1 tie, forcing a three-way tie for first place and a three-way sudden death penalty kick shootout.

Extreme came away as the victor of the shootout and faced the West Valley Wildcats in the semifinals. Both teams were scoreless in regulation, and West Valley prevailed in the deciding shootout.

Brittany Costa (4 for 4) and Megan Howley (3 for 3) were perfect in their shootout attempts. Kenisha Gathron and Jessica Reeder each converted two of three.

Goalkeeper Jimi Guibor was solid in the box for Manteca FC. Selena daSilva, ReAnna Schmitt and Leilani Villasenor were also among the team’s top contributors.
