White Sox claim Spreckels Park championship

The Spreckels Park Little League White Sox celebrate their 7-6 title-clinching win over the Phillies in Major Division play Monday at Brock Elliot School.

Jessie Ochoa drove in Julian Medrano for the game-winning run of the Spreckels Park Little League White Sox’s 7-6 win over the Phillies Monday at Brock Elliot School.

On the line were the league’s Major Division championship and a berth to next month’s District 67 Tournament of Champions.

Medrano had a big game at the plate, finishing 3 for 3 with two runs scored and an two-RBI triple. Ochoa finished 2 for 3 with a double and two runs driven in.

The winning pitcher was Zachary Maderos, who threw the final 1 2/3 innings. Jaden Pina had a strong start, striking out five in his four innings on the bump.

The White Sox rapped out 10 hits. Steven Rios ignited the club with a solo home run in the first inning.

Other offensive contributors were Maderos (2 for 3, run, RBI), Chase Sperbeck (RBI double) and Francisco Pacheco (hit).

The White Sox end the regular season with a 17-1-1 record, and 20-1-1 overall.
