MODESTO — The Modesto Symphony Orchestra (MSO) will present its19th annual outdoor concert, Picnic at the Pops! on Saturday, Sept. 7, on the grounds of the E&J Gallo Winery in Modesto.

 Guest conductor Stuart Chafetz will lead the Modesto Symphony Orchestra in a concert featuring the music of the Beatles from their early years on through the solo years featuring four vocalists  who look and sound just like The Beatles!  The show presents more than two dozen Beatles tunes performed exactly as they were originally recorded.  Hear “Penny Lane” with a live trumpet section, experience the beauty of “Yesterday” with an acoustic guitar and string quartet, and enjoy the classical/rock blend on “I Am the

The winery grounds open at 4 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. concluding with a spectacular fireworks finale.  Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the music in the outdoor park-like setting of the winery grounds.  Outside alcohol is prohibited.  A selection of wines, soda, coffee and water are available for purchase at the concert with all proceeds benefitting the Modesto Symphony.  Wines available for purchase include La Marca Prosecco; William Hill - Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon; MacMurray Ranch - Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir; Gallo Family Vineyards – Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Sangria; and Barefoot Refresh - Perfectly Pink, Crisp White, and Summer Red. 

 Guests who don’t want to pack their own picnic may also pre-order and pre-pay for boxed dinners from three MSO authorized caterers: O’Brien’s Market, Green’s Market or Tresetti’s World Cafe.  Information on how to order meals is included with tickets and is also available at The Pre-ordered meals will be delivered to the concert grounds and are then available for pick-up on the grounds between 4 and 7 p.m.

 A community favorite, Picnic at the Pops! attracts a large crowd of some 4,000 guests and all are encouraged to purchase their tickets early. Tickets are $12 to $55 and are available at the Gallo Center for the Arts Ticket Office. Group rates are available.  Tickets are also available at the following outlets: Nu-Way Cleaners (Bowen at College), O’Brien’s Market (all 3 locations), Salon Salon in McHenry Village and the Hilmar Cheese Visitors Center.
