SACRAMENTO – Assemblyman Heath Flora has advanced bipartisan bills to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk that were approved by the Senate Tuesday and the Assembly previously.

They reflect the Ripon Republican’s priorities by caring for California families, public safety and health workers.

“These bills are about solving real-world problems,” said Assemblyman Flora. “Improving public safety and rural hospitals are key to ensuring communities have solutions that matter.”

Bills passed by both chambers of the Legislature awaiting Governor’s signature or veto:

*AB 2129 – State employees: compensation for firefighters, strengthening the pay for state firefighters and ensuring retention amongst state employees. After the Governor vetoed the original bill in 2025, Flora reintroduced it, and it once again passed both chambers unanimously.

*AB 2571 – Reimbursement for pharmacist services, amending state law to improve reimbursement for pharmacist services for Medi-Cal and other health providers. The bill passed the Senate and the Assembly unopposed and with bipartisan support.

“I am proud to have had bipartisan support on these bills,” Flora said. “Honoring our public safety workers and ensuring our communities are taken care of are beneficial causes for the communities that we represent.”

California’s state firefighters are burdened with some of the most demanding conditions within the state and, as such, ensuring they maintain competitive pay with their local counterparts is essential.

Flora said the approach is ultimately designed to ensure that California’s public safety efforts are strengthened in the long run.

Flora represents Manteca, Ripon, and Lathrop along with other Northern San Joaquin Valley cities.
