A Buick LeSabre crashed into a house at Walnut Avenue and Joaquin Street shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday after Manteca Police motorcycle officer Mitch Ellis began to give chase when he clocked the vehicle traveling eastbound on Center Street at 60 miles an hour.
Ellis reported that he first saws the Buick westbound in the 700 block of West Center Street as it was passing another car on the right.  The motorcycle officer was eastbound and made a U-turn to follow the vehicle switching on his lights and siren.
The Buick made a left turn onto Walnut southbound and ran a red light in the process.  Ellis said he lost sight of the car until he found it had crashed into the residence in the 100 block of Walnut just north of Yosemite Avenue.
The driver, Joseph Scott Deatherage, 28, was detained in handcuffs and medics were called to the scene because of his injuries in the crash.  Complaining of head pain he was transported by ambulance to Doctors Hospital of Manteca for treatment. He was cited for reckless driving and for driving with a suspended license.
The City of Manteca building inspector was called to the scene to rule on the safety of the structure.  No one in the house was  injured, police said.
