The deadline is Aug. 6 for qualified candidates interested in running for a seat on the Manteca Unified school board.

Four seats occupied by incumbents Evelyn Moore, Vern Gebhardt, Manuel Medeiros, and Nancy Teicheira will be on the Nov. 2 general election ballot. There are seven board members altogether.

Gebhardt is completing his first term on the board while Moore, Medeiros and Teicheira are long-time trustees.

Gebhardt and Moore represent Area 5 (consisting mostly of Manteca); Medeiros has Area 2 (north of Manteca and includes Lathrop and French Camp); and Teicheira handles Area 4 (south of Manteca).

As of Tuesday, no one had yet to file for the available school board posts, according to the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters.

Incumbents along with qualified challengers will have until 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, to make their decision.
The SJC Registrar of Voters is located at 44 N. San Joaquin St., Suite 350, Stockton.
