Cigar lounge proposed for Ripon

There aren’t too many cigar lounges in the area.

Among the handful include Cheroot Cigar Lounge in Modesto, Havana Leaf & Vine in Stockton and Stogies Lounge in Lodi.

Ripon could soon be getting one.

City of Ripon Planning Director Ken Zuidervaart made that announcement at last week’s Planning Commission meeting.

He noted that a Conditional Use Permit on a request to modify an existing 3,500 square foot building to create a secondary space of about 1,700 square feet for an upscale cigar lounge will go before the Planning Commission at the Nov. 15 meeting.

“The use will provide for sales of cigars for offsite and onsite enjoyment as well as a bar area for crafted whiskey and bourbon,” according to the public notice.

The business will also offer memberships, Zuidervaart noted.

The project is being planned on a 10,356 square foot lot with six existing off-street parking spaces in an area zoned for Heavy Industrial at 202 E. Main St.
