William Francis Burgess Jr., a lifelong resident of Manteca, California, passed away on May 22, 2026, at the age of 75.

Born on May 17, 1951, in Manteca, Bill spent his entire life in the community he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Francis Burgess Sr. and Hope Burgess, and his beloved son, Billy Burgess.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jimmie Burgess; his children, Erika Jones (Derek), Joe Duarte (Ashley), James Duarte (Katelyn), and Patty Duarte; his grandchildren, Taylor Avakian, Griffin Jones, Alexys Jones, Haiven Duarte, Ozzy Duarte, and Mila Duarte; and his siblings, John Burgess , Rick Burgess (Diane),

Robin deGraaf (Alan), and Clint Burgess (Melinda).

Bill attended Manteca High School before transferring to East Union High School, where he was part of the school's first graduating class in 1969. During his school years, he played football and wrestled, and was actively involved in FFA, serving as president in its early years. A farmer by trade, Bill owned and operated Burgess Ranch, a farming and trucking business that became a big part of his life and legacy. He was deeply involved in agriculture and was a strong supporter of youth livestock programs through FFA and 4-H. Whether helping his own children and grandchildren or encouraging other local families, Bill was a familiar face at the San Joaquin County Fair and a supporter of the agricultural community. He was also a past member of the Lions Club and believed in giving back to his community. Above all, Bill's greatest love was his family. He enjoyed family gatherings, good food, and time spent together. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and was always supportive of their accomplishments. Known for his easygoing nature and dedication to those he loved, Bill will be remembered for the life he built, the people he supported, and the lasting impact he made on his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved.
