Jeanette Texeira Tingley Machado obit

Jeanette T. Tingley Machado passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Jeanette was born to Manuel and Helen Texeira in Stockton, California. She along with her brother, Larry, were raised on a farm in the Central Valley. The family eventually moved to Waterford where Jeanette attended Oakdale High School graduating in 1972. Jeanette went on to receive her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education from California State University, Stanislaus.

Jeanette dedicated over 35 years of her life to education, shaping the hearts and minds of countless children as a teacher with Modesto City Schools, primarily at Everett and Fremont Elementary Schools. Even after retiring in 2014, her love for education and children continued through substitute teaching. While attending Modesto Junior College, Jeanette met and fell in love with Ron Tingley. They were married for 40 years until Ron's death in 2014. Together they both enjoyed the great outdoors through camping, horseback riding, hiking, and bicycling. In 2016, Jeanette found love again and married Joe Machado. Along with Joe, Jeanette loved to dance, travel, fish and attend the Portuguese festas where she cherished her and Joe's shared Portuguese heritage.

Family was at the center of Jeanette's life. Nick and Tiffany Bell, who began as dear friends became family and were loved by Jeanette as her children. While married to her husband, Joe, she embraced the family she gained and came to love JoAnna Machado Perez (Fidel) and Claudette Machado as her own. She cherished being a grandmother to Amelia, Ellie, Fidel, Sofia, Ana, Lucia and Emilio. It was a role that brought her tremendous joy. Jeanette is survived by her husband, Joe Machado, brother Larry Texeira, nephew Anthony Texeira, aunt Celeste Cabral, uncle George Texeira, uncle Joe Silveira and many beloved cousins and friends.

A faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Jeanette lived life with enthusiasm and joy. Known to family and friends as a "firecracker," she was admired for her spunky spirit, endless energy and love of life. She enjoyed travel, good food and always appreciated a great glass of wine shared with family and friends. Her signature laugh and adventurous spirit were loved by all.

Jeanette leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
