Ray of Hope is currently conducting its Baby Blessing Box donation drive.

The Children’s Crises and Resource Services of San Joaquin County is asking groups – businesses, school / service clubs, or individuals – to help in supporting this project that supports children age 0-6 months old with urgent needs.

“You would get a box such as an Avon or file box, wrap it in baby gift wrapping, and include diapers, (baby) formula, receiving blankets, pajamas, socks, and hygiene products,” said Ray of Hope via social media.

The Baby Blessing Boxes will then be given to babies discharged from the hospital with a referral for basic needs or to clients from a referring agency – included are the Child Abuse Protection Agency, SJC Child Protective Services, and other local and government agencies.

Once enrolled in the program, Ray of Hope can offer up a case manager to parents as they begin the accountability and healing process to provide the much-needed resources to give there their child a healthy chance, according to Saunders, who is the executive director of the local non-profit organization.

“It’s vital that we have boxes available when we get the referrals or funds for the babies during our outreach,” she recently said. “The detriment to babies without adequate diapers include such things as rash, wounds, and infections to the urinary tract that can travel to the kidneys.”
