U-pick cherry time is this weekend at Dell’Osso Farm
CHERRY BENEFITS

The u-pick season San Joaquin County gets underway this weekend at the Dell’Osso Family Farm off of Interstate 5 in Lathrop.

They have more than 2,400 cherry trees on 15 acres that are ready for the picking.

Dell’Osso’s orchard dodged the untimely heavy rain that struck a number of regional orchards leaving them with a bumper crop of coral cherries.

The u-pick price is $4.50 a pound, $1.50 less than advertised prices at Target and Safeway.

The orchard is open this Saturday and Sunday, May 9-10, as well as next weekend. Hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Country Store offers everything cherry including cherry jams, cherry doughnuts, and cherry pie.

Guests are taken to and from the orchard on hay wagons.

Area farms this spring and summer will offer everything from u-pick blueberries to u-pick apples.
