• COUPLE HITS IT BIG IN LOTTERY 3 TIMES: PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) — A Virginia couple is averaging more than $1 million a week in lottery winnings.

The Virginia Lottery says Calvin and Zatera Spencer of Portsmouth claimed their latest prize last week -- a $1 million in the scratch-off game $100 Million Cash Extravaganza.

The streak started when the Spencers won $1 million in the March 12 Powerball drawing, matching the first five numbers but missing the Powerball number.

The couple struck again on March 26 when Calvin Spencer won $50,000 in the Virginia Lottery’s Pick 4 game with 10 tickets that had the same winning combination of 6-6-6-6.

The next day, Calvin Spencer bought the winning Cash Extravaganza ticket.

• OREGON DROPS PROPOSED BAN ON POT-LACED MUNCHIES: SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon officials are backing off their proposal to prohibit sales of pot-infused treats at medical marijuana stores.

In a new set of rules released Monday, the Oregon Health Authority will only ban marijuana-laced products that are made or packaged in ways that might appeal to children. That means nothing brightly colored or formed in the shape of animals, toys or candies.

The rules also require marijuana products to be sold in child-proof containers free of cartoons or bright colors.

The rules take effect Tuesday, but they could change based on public comments during a six-month rule-making process.

Previous versions of the rules would have banned drug-laced sweets all together because they could be attractive to young people. But dispensary advocates said patients who take the drug orally need the sweetened pot products.

• ELTON JOHN WEDS: LONDON (AP) — Elton John and his partner David Furnish are planning a low-profile wedding in May, following a change in British law allowing gay marriages.

The singer told NBC’s Today show that he wants to celebrate “very quietly,” and added: “It will be a joyous occasion and we will have our children.”

The two men, who have been in a civil partnership since 2005, have two children.

In quotes released on NBC’s website Monday, the singer said: “We shouldn’t just say ‘Oh, well, we have a civil partnership, we’re not going to bother to get married’. We will get married.”

Same-sex marriages were allowed for the first time in Britain Saturday, when a new marriage law came into effect.

• CBS COMEDY ‘HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’ ENDS: NEW YORK (AP) — In its 208th and final episode on Monday, the CBS comedy “How I Met Your Mother” finally revealed the mystery contained in its title.

Actor Josh Radnor’s character Ted meets the mom, played by actress Cristin Milioti, on a rainy train platform after his friends Barney and Robin are married.

But that marriage doesn’t last, and neither does Ted’s — because Milioti’s character Tracy dies. And at the end of the one-hour episode, the romance that seemed natural at the show’s beginning, between Ted and Robin, is rekindled.
