Kevin Werner is no longer the interim city administrator.
At last Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting, his appointment to the title of City Administrator was unanimously approved in closed session.
“Kevin was born and raised in Ripon and he will do a good job,” Mayor Dean Uecker said.
Werner appeared humble. “It’s truly an honor to work as your City Administrator,” he said.
Perhaps it was all but assumed that anyone but the Ripon resident would be offered the job. He had served as both deputy city administrator and city engineer for quite some time.
Werner was in line for the promotion last spring after Leon Compton retired after 27 years of service with the City of Ripon.
Elected leaders, however, held off on appointing the next city administrator, opting to update some of the language on the job title for future generations. This includes that person required to live in the Ripon area and other parameters for employment.
Council applauded Werner’s appointment.
“I think we have the right man for the job,” said Elden ‘Red’ Nutt.
Vice Mayor Chuck Winn agreed, adding, “I’m sure Kevin will continue to make Ripon a special place.”
Werner’s contract becomes effective Oct. 24.
