Reed Mantle Oborn, 65, passed away March 22, 2009 of natural causes at Doctors Hospital in Manteca.  Reed was born Sept. 17, 1943 in Tooele, Utah, to Henry Melvin and Jennie Leone Mantle Oborn.  He grew up in Tooele and graduated from Tooele High School, where he was very active in sports.

He married Patricia Ann Spor 17 November 1967 and later divorced.

He served in the US Army, achieving the rank of SP5.  After an honorable discharge in 1970 he was employed by the Tooele Army Depot and was later accepted as Directorate of Information Management at the Sharpe Defense Depot in Lathrop.  He was retired after 32 years of service.  He received many awards at this place of employment.

Reed was an avid bowler and received many 1st place trophies.  He also excelled in golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ray.  He is survived by two brothers, Keith of Salt Lake City, and Neldon of Lakewood, Colorado; and nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Graveside services will be held at Tooele City Cemetery, 361 South 100 East, Tooele, Utah, on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to all his friends and neighbors, especially at the Northlake Tower Apartments in Manteca for their care and concern for Reed throughout the past years.
