The Manteca junior varsity gave away to a safety to host St. Francis of Mountain View in the first quarter and the Buffaloes came roaring back to down the Lancers 26-2 on Friday in non-league action. Manteca erupted for 16-second quarter points on a Noah Horne 3-yard touchdown run and 14-yard interception return for a score by Jacob Hernandez. The Buffaloes added 10 more points in the final period on a 72-yard scoring pass from Anthony Bowen (6 of 11 passing, 90 yards) to Devin Cortinas and when St. Francis had a bad snap on a punt for a safety.
Vinny Diaz led the Manteca offense with 63 yards on 17 carries and Anthony Bowen chipped in 38 yards on eight carries.
Garden Taufalele and D’Angelo Riego paced the Buffaloes with seven tackles each. Israel Juarez and Cortinas added six stops each with five apiece for Bryant Lewis and Hernandez.
Manteca travels to Clovis on Friday at 5 p.m. to take on Buchanan.
Sierra 8, Enochs 0
The host Timberwolves scored early Friday on an 8-yard run by Issac Penaloza and the Sierra defense took over from there at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.
Penaloza gained 61 yards rushing and Messiah Fernandez was 11 of 15 passing for 87 yards. Brayden Vargas-Daniels pulled in six receptions for 57 yards.
Nicholas Jimenez and Noah Aguilar each made an interception for the Timberwolves in the game’s closing minutes. Brayden Vargas-Daniels led Sierra with five tackles. Jo’Syah Berry tallied four stops with three each for Isaiah Rankins, Lizandro Salcedo and Anthony Tamayo. Jeffry Braga recovered a fumble.
Sierra hosts Lathrop on Friday at 5 p.m.

Lathrop 32, Golden Valley 6
Alius Lopez and Logan Martinez tallied a pair of touchdowns Thursday for the Spartans at Bennie Gatto Field.
Lopez (five carries, 76 yards) scored on a 46-yard punt return and a 45-yards run. Martinez (nine carries, 86 yards) galloped 52 yards for a score and pulled in a 58-yard touchdown throw from Ayden Nungaray (3 of 4 passing, 97 yards). JuanPablo Flores returned a punt 85 yards for a score.
Carlos Rivera paced the Lathrop defense with seven tackles. Flores posted five stops with three each for Brandon Ashford, Lopez, and Logan Martinez. Pablo Barbo and Johnny Slivas both contributed to the defense.
The Spartans host Sierra on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Livermore 10, Ripon 7
Henry Cook scored on a 59-yard run for Ripon in the first period.
Cook tallied 110 yards on 14 carries and Mason Dodson was 2 of 9 passing for 24 yards and picked up 56 yards on nine carries. Connor Due gained 39 yards on seven carries and made one catch for 12 yards.
Hudson Rushing (four tackles) and Due (three tackles) each made an interception. Degan Nowlin made five stops and John Raudabaugh four. Dodson contributed to the defense.
Ripon travels to Auburn on Thursday to face Placer at 6 p.m.
East Union 27, Pacheco 13
The visiting Lancers scored in every quarter with John Ellis tallying three touchdowns.
Ellis (102 yards rushing) scored on a pair of 3-yard runs and from 2 yards out. Lincoln Ramirez (52 yards rushing) added a 10-yard touchdown run. Nolan Mendes was 9 of 13 passing for 92 yards.
Ellis forced a fumble and made four tackles and Elias Fregia made an interception. Lincoln Ramirez and Jack Benedetti contributed to the defense.
East Union travels to Modesto to face Johansen on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m.
Manteca 24, Los Banos 12
Brayden Davis pulled in a pair of touchdown passes from Jackson Coenenberg for the visiting Buffaloes.
Coenenberg (4 of 5 passing, 110 yards) hit Davis (three receptions, 105 yards) with scoring throws of 28 and 71 yards. Kristian Miranda-Alvarez scored on a 1-yard run and Brach Carabello found Maverick Brum with a 14-yard touchdown pass. The offensive line of Ja'syn Turner, Andrew Serrano, Francisco Diaz, Jozay Garcia, and Ernesto Cruz along with fullback Kristian Miranda-Alvarez helped Landon Viss 15 gain 108 yards on 15 carries with Manteca totaling 282 offensive yards.
Aiden Freitas and Dominic Love made six stops apiece for the Buffaloes. Grant Catalano and Brum added five stops apiece and Davis three. Viss contributed to the defense.
Manteca travels to Clovis on Thursday at 5 p.m. to face Buchanan.
Enochs 36, Sierra 14
Chris Marek hit Christian Gregory with a touchdown pass for the one Timberwolves score and David Gloria ran in the other one.
Sierra’s Jayden Alpiche recovered a fumble and Xavier Lima snagged an interception.
