BASKETBALL: Ripon rebounds with rout of Hilmar

Coming off three losses in its last four games, Ripon’s girls basketball team got back on track in Trans-Valley League play Tuesday with a 69-40 road win over Hughson.

“We responded from our loss (at Livingston) last Friday night,” Ripon coach Rick Inderbitzin said. We did a great job playing together and shooting the ball. It was a total team effort and I was proud of how they got after it tonight.”

Makenzie Loechler registered 20 points and nine rebounds for the Indians (4-3 TVL, 13-8 overall). Taylor Tobin added 10 points. Grace Mikami, Kaylee Hutchinson and Kacie Johnson contributed nine points apiece. Sierra Hollis grabbed 10 rebounds.

Emily Cogswell fired 18 points for Hilmar (0-7, 4-14).

 

Manteca 46, Oakdale 30

Camrenne Genilla scored 12 points, as Manteca (5-1, 13-4 overall) got through a slow start for a comfortable Valley Oak League road win.

Marcelina Chaparro and Kerena Malone each added six points.

 

Kimball 56, Sierra 33

It was an uphill struggle for host the Timberwolves (2-3 VOL, 8-5) after trailing 15-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Kimball (2-2, 11-4) broke it open with a 22-point fourth quarter. Brea Vieira scored 16 points for Sierra, and Brianna Parker had six.

 

Lathrop 61, Pacheco 45

Egypt Jenkins poured in a game-high 19 points, and host Lathrop (7-2, 17-6 overall) was able to play much of its reserves. The Spartans play three games in four days this week, ending with Grace Davis at home Thursday.

Lathrop led 40-21 at halftime. Isa Paniagua contributed 15 points, and Kiestin Constantino pitched in 10. Abi Pikas paced Pacheco (3-6, 10-9) with 16 points, and Kameryn Cortinas had 14.

Lathrop 54, Pacheco 17

Navi Kaur and Riana Dela Cruz tallied 12 points each, as Lathrop improved to 8-0 in the WAC. Haven Urbina-Thierry contributed with nine points.

 

Manteca 56, Oakdale 21

Manteca freshman Jayda Anderson made five of nine 3-pointers, scoring a team-high 21 points.

Jada Ikharo also had a big game, collecting 19 points and 13 rebounds.
