Ripon Christian is back in the NorCal Final Four, and the 14th-seeded Knights are headed to a familiar place in their quest to repeat California Interscholastic Federation championship.

They again took care of business against a much-higher seed on Thursday, ousting No. 5 Carmel on the road 25-23, 25-18, 25-8 in a Division III northern regional quarterfinal.

Ripon Christian next travels to San Francisco on Saturday to face No. 8 Lowell (29-8), which swept top seed Harbor (30-9), 25-12, 25-21, 25-13. The Knights began their run to the Division IV state crown last year at Lowell, winning in four games. No. 2 Mercy (24-11) of Burlingame and No. 3 Archie Williams (17-10) will duel in the other NorCal semifinal.

The Knights had to rally to steal the opening set from Carmel, securing the final six points in succession on Leeh Van Wyngarden’s serve. The senior finished with 21 service points, five aces, 10 kills and 13 digs.

Jordan Vander Veen led the attack with 15 kills to go with eight digs. Middle blockers Sydney Hoffman and Brynn Bohn added five kills apiece. Allison Brown registered 12 digs, and Megan Weststeyn tallied 32 assists.

Ripon Christian is not the lowest-seeded team remaining in the state regionals. In Division I, SoCal No. 14 La Canada and NorCal No. 15 Monte Vista are still in the hunt, as is Division II NorCal No. 16 University.
