ROUNDUP: Lathrop sweeps Mountain House for 3rd straight volleyball win

Lathrop’s girls volleyball team warded off visiting Mountain House for a hard-earned 25-19, 25-23, 25-23 non-league sweep on Monday.

Siliana Fa’ataualofa amassed 16 kills and seven digs for the Spartans (4-3), who won their third straight match. Setter Sariah Hilton shined on both ends, finishing with 32 assists, to go with two solo blocks and three digs.

Erin Chunn contributed 12 kills and 10 digs. Malia Fa’ataualofa collected 11 digs. Breanna Wiseman pitched in three kills, two solo blocks and two digs. Jadore Dixon anchored the defense with 16 digs.

Lathrop faces cross-town rival River Islands on the road Thursday.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Sierra 16, Modesto 6

Elin Villanueva was a two-way standout for the Timberwolves (3-4), as she recorded two receiving touchdowns, an interception and a team-high six flag pulls.

The sophomore finished with nine catches for 96 yards. Quarterback Tessa Zalunardo completed 17 of 29 passes for 191 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. She also rushed for 30 yards on six attempts.

Kayla Amarante contributed two sacks to the defense. Emalina Latu added an interception.

Sierra hosts Kimball on Wednesday.

JV volleyball

Lathrop 2, Mountain House 1

Cassidy Fa’ali’i orchestrated a balanced Lathrop attack with 19 assists, to go with two kills and two aces.

Ne’Myah Belion and Elsa Johnson each had five kills and a solo block. Johnson also fired four aces. Zakia Booker contributed four kills and four digs. Elia Dasalla had seven digs.

Novice volleyball

Lathrop 2, Mountain House 1

Jessica Reff served five aces, while handing out nine assists for the Spartans.

Teonna Finney tallied four kills. Kyla Swan accumulated three kills and three aces. Jaslyn Lugo picked up five digs.
