Izabella Sanchez posted a double-double in her return to Manteca’s girls basketball team Friday, as the Buffaloes rolled 56-33 in their season opener against visiting Beyer.
The versatile 6-foot-1 senior tallied 23 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals. She missed her entire junior season with a knee injury.
“Having Izzy back is a game changer,” Manteca coach Oscar Calix said. “With her coming back from injury, he’s getting into the flow of things, and I can’t wait to see her continue to get better throughout the season.”
Beyer was still within striking distance down 26-18 at halftime but succumbed to Manteca’s full-court pressure. Michailla Springs keyed the defense with her pressure on Beyer point guard Kylie Kulina.
Jada Ikharo contributed eight points and 10 rebounds.
