Sierra girls relay 2nd at Meet of Champions

SACRAMENTO – The Sierra girls 4x400 relay team of Jeida Lavender, Raiann Prieto, Julia Recker and Jasmin Correa finished second Saturday in the Meet of Champions at American River College.
With more than 170 teams from California and Nevada participating, competition was fierce.
The Timberwolves’ Jesse Hurtado was third in the 800 (1:56.86) with the Sierra 4x100 relay of Judith Okola, Jaida Franklin, Prieto and Correa finishing fourth (49.14).
Other top-10 finishers from Sierra were Correa (400, 56.83, fourth; 200, 25.97, sixth); Nicholas Stanley (300 hurdles, 40.77, sixth; 110 hurdles, 15.49, ninth); Megan Oblin (1600, 5:16.52, seventh); Miranda Miller (triple jump, 34 feet, 4 ½ inches, eighth) and the 4x400 relay (Jerardo Salcedo, Stanley, David Correa and Hurtado, 3:29.03, ninth).
