SALIDA — Despite committing four errors Friday, Manteca still has yet to give up a run in the District 67 Senior All-Star Tournament, as it shut out Weston Ranch 9-0 at Salida Elementary School and advanced to the championship round.

Manteca had two errors to start the fourth inning, another to start the fifth and one more in the seventh.

Manteca mitigated the errors in the fifth and seventh with inning ending double plays. The fifth was Kyle Rachels to Zach Chamberlain to Jonathan Murillo, and the game ended on one from pitcher Jake Menasco to Chamberlain to Murillo. Menasco induced three straight pop-ups in the fourth to end the inning.

Menasco struck out five while allowing just two hits with no walks and received defensive help from Mitch Balmut on an excellent running catch in center field in the third inning.

Manteca got four runs on just one hit in the second inning, and that was a single by Tyler Milosovich (3 for 3, two RBI.) Jake Menasco was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Milosovich, Isaac Maldonado scored on an error off of the bat of Andrew Brunn, Devin Sullivan scored on an error and Ferrin Manuela scored on a sacrifice fly by Balmut.

Milosovich singled in Jonathan Murillo (2 for 4) in the fourth and sixth innings. Devin Sullivan scored on a passed ball in the fourth inning and in a two-run third Pressley Keltner scored on a wild pitch and Maldonado was singled in by Ferrin Manuleleua.

Weston Ranch awaits the Spreckels Park-Salida winner in Sunday’s consolation final, while Manteca next plays Monday starting at 5:30 p.m.
