MASL Fury stomp Eagles in 5-0 victory

The Fury got back to their winning ways last weekend, beating the Eagles in Manteca Area Soccer League action last Saturday in Stockton.

In the 5-0 win, the local under-19 girls squad got goals from Carla Ochoa, Taylor Gray, Carly Thissen, Aiyana Greeley and Cecilia Ibarra-Bejar, respectively.

Goal keepers Ashley Freeman and Clarissa Medrano had three saves each.

Greeley, in addition, provided good passing, defense, and had three shots at goal. All told, Manteca had 20 shots at goal, including attempts by Anna Arriola, Anna Mascarelli, Joanna Martinez, Teresa Morales, Ochoa, and Gray. The Fury jumped out to a 3-0 first-half lead.

On defense, Georgia Arriola received recognition for her all-out hustle. Estrella Morales and Kristyna Valdez also kept the pressure on the Eagles.

Punishers 8, Extreme Rage 2

The Rage got goals by Cody Cronin and Logan Richardson in the loss to Punishers.

They also had to tough it out as Joshua Bolton, who took a direct hit to the face from the ball – he stayed on to play a strong game – and Zachary Todd overcame injuries. Julian Cash helped out with his aggressive play and good ball passing.

The Punishers, who led 2-0 in the first half, poured it on with six goals.

For the Rage, Cronin was recognized for keeping the pressure on the opponents. Devin Cisneroz, Erik Rodriguez, and Harenvir Braich keyed the defense. In addition, Michael Arriola, Isaiah Soto, Todd, and Richardson were relentless in securing the front line.
