Manteca Unified schools staging winter concerts

Schools throughout Manteca unified are staging winter concerts next week.

The East Union High School choirs will perform their Winter Concert on Monday, December 7 at the Manteca Presbyterian Church on North and Main at 7 p.m.  

It will feature music by the mixed choir as well as selections from the Bella Tredici girls’ choir.  They are under the direction of Anne Talcott.  All are invited to attend this free concert.

Brock Elliott Elementary School will have their fourth grade beginning violin and 5th/6th Grade Beginning Band concert on Tuesday, December 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Brock Elliott cafeteria.  The concert, under the direction of Melissa Manalastas, is free to the public.

Lathrop Area Music Program (7th and 8th graders from Mossdale, Lathrop and Widmer) and Lathrop High School guest musicians will present a Holiday Concert at Joseph Widmer Elementary School Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m.  They are directed by Desiree Bugarin and Elizabeth Van Eerde.  It also includes the 4th-6th grade Choir and Intermediate Band from Joseph Widmer School directed by Jessica Claud.  

The Walter Woodward and Joshua Cowell Winter Concert will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Woodward Elementary School. The performance begins at 7 p.m. The concert will feature bands and choirs from both schools under the direction of Mr. Shannon Beattie.

East Union Band and Jazz Band will perform their winter concert on Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the EUHS cafeteria.  The concert starts at 7p.m.  The band director is Terry Silveira.

Neil Hafley’s holiday concert is Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the Hafley gym at 6:30 pm.  It will feature the choir and band under the direction of Tammy Carstersen.

Sierra band plans potato bar dinner

The Sierra High Band will host its annual dinner and concert on Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the SHS cafeteria.  The meal is a potato bar dinner with a variety of toppings, salad, dinner roll, and drink.  Tickets must be pre-ordered by Monday, Dec. 7.  Dinner is served from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. and costs $5 on Dec. 9.  The concert starts at 7 p.m. and features the SHS band, the SHS Jazz Combo, and a number of small ensembles under the direction of Rick Hammarstrom.  Concert admission is free.

The Manteca High School Choir Concert will be held Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. at Mulvihill Theatre.  The concert features two choirs, a barbershop quartet, and a guest barbershop quartet “Fourmost.”  The audience is invited to participate in the singing of Hallelujah Chorus.  

The Weston Ranch High School Choir is pleased to present their Winter Concert on Thursday, Dec. 10., at 7 p.m. in the WRHS Theater.  The choir is directed by Kristy Burch and accompanied by Anthony Rahawi.

The 6th Grade Intermediate Band and 7th/8th Grade Advanced Band from Brock Elliott Elementary School, under the direction of Melissa Manalastas, will perform on Thursday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m.  The concert is in the Brock Elliott cafeteria and is free to the public.

The Manteca High School Band & Shasta Bands (7-8 Band, 6th Grade Band, and Beginning Band) and Choirs (4-6) Winter Concert will be December 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Manteca High School Theater.  Their director is Anthony Dahl.  It will feature guest soloist Melissa Manalastas, flute and the Central Valley premiere of Roadtrip Sunrise, and new composition for band by Phoenix area composer Andrew Ardizzoia.  The MHS Band will be only the third band in the world to perform this piece!  There will also be works by Stravinsky, Robert W. Smith, and Bruce Pearson, as well as some festive holiday tunes. Admission is FREE!

The Elementary Choirs from Golden West, Mossdale and Veritas Schools will be presenting “A Holiday to Remember” on Tuesday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Golden West Community Gym directed by Mrs. Cindy Karim.  The Golden West band will be performing also under the direction of Wendell Dotson.

Stella Brockman’s holiday concert will be on Tuesday, December 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Stella Brockman gym.  It will include holiday selections played by the intermediate and advanced bands and 4-8 grade choirs.  The groups are directed by Terri Richichi and Betty James.

Band and Choir musicians from Lathrop High School with LAMP guest musicians will present their Holiday Concert at the Lathrop High School Performing Arts Hall on December 15  at 7:00 p.m.  The bands are directed by Desiree Bugarin and the choirs are directed by Elizabeth Van Eerde. All are welcome to attend this FREE concert!

The Great Valley Winter Concert will be Tuesday, Dec. 15th at 7:00 p.m. in the Great Valley gym.  All bands and choirs will be performing under the direction of Andrew Hildebrand.

Tuesday evening, December 15, at 7:00 p.m., August Knodt School Bands and Choirs will be presenting a variety of Holiday Season selections.  The concert will be held in the gym adjacent to August Knodt.  Performance groups are under the direction of Jack Hepworth.

On Tuesday, December 15, at 7:00 p.m., Brock Elliott’s singers will present their Winter Choir Concert.  They are directed by Melissa Manalastas.  The concert will be in the Brock Elliott cafeteria and is free to the public.

The George Y. Komure talent show will feature two pieces by the Advanced Band under the direction of Dana O’Dell.  The show begins at 5:30 p.m. on December 16th in the George Y. Komure gym.  

The Sequoia band and choir will be performing their winter concert in the Sequoia gym at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16th.  They are directed by Wendell Dotson.
