It is with profound sadness, yet with faith in God’s eternal promises, that we announce the passing of Joseph Anthony Compartore, who entered into eternal rest on June 1, 2026 at the age of 93.
A devoted Catholic, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend, Joe lived a life rooted in faith, family, service, and love. He embraced life wholeheartedly and shared his kindness, wisdom, humor, and generous spirit with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Joe dedicated 46 years of his professional life as a court reporter in the Superior Courts of Alameda County and Contra Costa County. His commitment to excellence, integrity, and public service earned the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout his distinguished career.
Proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force during Korean War era, Joe carried the values of duty, honor, and perseverance throughout his life. He was also a dedicated baseball coach who generously gave his time to young athletes, and he and his beloved wife faithfully attended countless sporting events to support their family.
Family was the center of Joe’s life. He was a devoted husband and a loving father
to his son, Joseph Compartore II and his wife, Cherie, and his daughter, Lori Reis and her husband, Phil. He was a cherished Papa to his granddaughter Jessica and a proud great-grandfather to Weston and Raven. He was always present for those he loved, offering unwavering support through life’s joys and challenges. His family will forever treasure his guidance, generosity, and unconditional love.
Joe had a passion for sports and was a loyal fan of the Oakland Athletics, Raiders,
and San Francisco 49ers. He loved spending time on the golf course, where he enjoyed
both the game and the friendly competition that often left him happily collecting winnings from his friends. He also appreciated life’s simple pleasures, an expertly made martini, a wonderful Italian meal, and the companionship of family and friends gathered around the table.
Above all, Joe’s faith sustained him throughout his life. We take comfort in believing that he has been welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord and reunited with his beloved wife Bonnie, his parents, his brother John, and all the family members who preceded him in death. As Catholics, we trust in Christ’s promise of eternal life and rejoice in knowing that Joe’s earthly journey has led him to the peace and joy of Heaven.
Joe will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children, their spouses, his granddaughter, greatgrandchildren, extended family, dear friends, and all whose lives he touched. Though his absence leaves a tremendous void in our hearts, his legacy of faith, love, laughter, and devotion will continue to live on in all who knew him.
May he rest in the peace of Christ and may perpetual light shine upon him.
