Farmers market opens Saturday on Maple Avenue

The 2022 San Joaquin Certified Farmers Market season starts this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the 100 block of North Maple Avenue in downtown Manteca.

The switch to Saturday mornings is more than just about improved convenience as opposed to previous farmers markets in downtown that have been conducted on weekday evenings in past years. Organizers says it will allow more produce vendors to participate.

The farmers market will run through the end of October. It will not happen on either June 4 or Oct. 1 as it would conflict with the Crossroads Street Fair & Watermelon Festival as well as the Sunrise Manteca Pumpkin Fair.

The event is a joint effort of the City of Manteca Recreation & Community Services Department as well as the San Joaquin Certified Farmers Market.

It is part of a City of Manteca effort to  make downtown a community gathering place.

Not only is the Market on Maple being switched to Saturday mornings to make it more of a traditional farmers market, but in its place periodically on Thursday evenings there will be more of a festival-style atmosphere with live music, beer and wine gardens and complementing activities.

The Downtown Tracy market is open year round on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Weberstown market in front of Dillard’s on Pacific Avenue in Stockton is open year round on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. As well as Thursdays from  8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May through November.

The Discovery Bay Farmers Market is on Sundays from 8 a.m. until noon June 5 through Oct. 30.

All of the farmers markets accept EBT cards.

Visit the information booth to use your card to receive redeemable tokens.
EBT tokens can be used for any qualifying foods including fruits, vegetables, honey, eggs, popcorn, baked goods, hummus, yogurt, drinks and more.
