School starts in less than two weeks.
And to make sure the community can give summer vacation a big send off, the City of Manteca’s Recreation & Community Services Division has a series of family-orientated events this Friday through Sunday with more in store next weekend.
They ran the gamut from a Food Truck Frenzy and a free pop up party in the park to the weekly Saturday morning farmers market on the 100 block of Maple Avenue in downtown.
The fun starts Friday, July 22, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lincoln Park and swimming pool on Powers Avenue across from the fire station.
It’s a free Hawaiian Beach Party featuring free evening swim plus live disc jockey, kids’ games, prizes and more.
Then the certified farmers’ market is on Saturdays through the end of October in the 100 block from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A Food Truck Frenzy takes place Sunday, July 24, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Woodward Park.
It features food trucks, drinks, kids' activities, free school supplies for kids and a performance from The Mike Torres Jr. Band from 4 to 7 p.m.
The activities continue next weekend with the Manteca Senior Center’s annual indoor flea market on Saturday, July 30, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It’s an air conditioned affair at the center located at 295 Cherry Lane.
Reserved tables are $20 each and are available by contacting the senior center staff.
Also on Saturday, July 30, is the free swim and movie at Lincoln Park.
Swimming and other activities take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Then at sundown around 8:30 p.m., a free movie will be shown at the adjacent Lincoln Park Ball Field. The free movie is Disney’s “Luca”.
