Marie Freitas was re-elected to serve as Manteca Unified board president on Thursday.
It will be her third consecutive one-year term.
The board also selected Eric Duncan to serve as board vice president and Stephen Schluer as clerk.
Freitas, Duncan, and Schluer will also serve as Manteca Unified’s executive committee.
The Committee for the Evaluation and Negotiation Process for the Superintendent’s Contract will include trustees Schluer, Trustee Duncan, and Cathy Pope-Gotschall.
The following board trustees will serve as members (and one alternate member) on 2x2 Committees:
*City of Manteca 2X2 Committee: Freitas and Pope-Gotschall (Trustee Kathy Howe will serve as alternate)
*City of Lathrop 2X2 Committee: Kathy Howe and Marisella Guerrero (Marie Freitas will serve as alternate)
*City of Stockton 2X2 Committee: Duncan and Schluer (Howe will serve as alternate)
The 2x2 committees are designed to allow trustees — on behalf of the rest of the board — to meet with two designated representatives from a city without being in violation of the Brown Act concerning meetings of elected officials.
Typically, the meetings are used to discuss — but not take action — on concerns that involve a specific city and the school district such as laying the ground work for sharing facilities.
Those concerns can run the gamut from addressing safe routes to school to mutual endeavors
The following Board Trustees and Manteca Unified Administrators will serve as Parks and Recreation Commission Liaisons:
*Manteca Parks & Recreation Commission: Greene (term expires 2025), Executive Director Clara Schmiedt (term expires 2025), and Director of Facilities Aaron Bowers (term expires 2024)
(Chief Business & Information Officer Victoria Brunn will serve as alternate, term expires 2024)
*Stockton Parks & Recreation Commission: Duncan
*Lathrop Parks & Recreation Commission: Howe
Freitas will serve as the County School Board Liaison.
