Ripon’s one-time mayor Mike Restuccia and his wife Mona have once again stepped up to help the Ripon Police Department.

The Ripon couple was present for a small celebration at the Ripon Animal Shelter last week getting the appreciation of city staffers for the new granite sign they made possible in front of the facility at a cost of more than $1,000.

“When I was on the city council I was in support of the P.D.  You guys put your lives on the line; the same as the fire department,” he said.  “We try to do what we can to help out.  We are animal lovers and want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to do this.”

Mona Restuccia said she would like to volunteer at the shelter, explaining that she gets too emotional with the animals in cages.  She had found a snuggly wire-haired terrier puppy that wanted to be held – and hold she did, but she said her two Pekinese– Mojo ,10, and Dino, 9,  wouldn’t allow her to take the pup home.
