Voters approved five of the 11 statewide ballot propositions in Tuesday's election. The voting breakdown:
— Proposition 30-Governor's tax increase, passed 54 percent to 46 percent.
— Proposition 31-Budget reforms, failed, 39 percent to 61 percent.
— Proposition 32-Union dues, failed 44 percent to 56 percent.
— Proposition 33-Auto insurance rates, failed 45.4 percent to 54.6 percent.
— Proposition 34-Death penalty repeal, failed 47.2 percent to 52.8 percent.
— Proposition 35-Human trafficking penalties, passed 81 percent to 19 percent.
— Proposition 36-Three Strikes revision, passed 68.6 percent to 31.4 percent.
— Proposition 37-Genetically modified food labeling, failed 47 percent to 53 percent.
— Proposition 38-Income tax increase for schools, failed 27.7 percent to 72.3 percent.
— Proposition 39-Closing corporate tax loophole, passed 60 percent to 40 percent.
— Proposition 40-Retain state Senate districts, passed 71.4 percent to 28.6 percent.
