Elynore H. Maloney
50-year French camp resident

Elynore Helen Maloney, 94, was on born July 30, 1916, in Marysville, California and passed away peacefully on Aug. 31, 2010, in Sacramento, California.

Mrs. Maloney was a resident of French Camp for 50 years and moved to Manteca in 2000.  She worked for the State of California Employment Development Department for over 20 years. After retirement she ran a food confession stand on the weekends for 10 plus years.

An active community member, Elynore participated and held leadership roles in PTA, Native Daughters of the Golden West, French Camp and Lathrop Senior Citizen Programs, and the French Camp Chamber of Commerce, receiving their Women of the Year award twice.  She also supported and participated in activities for the Boy Scouts of America.  Many remember Elynore for coordinating senior bus trips that were enjoyed by all.  

Arts and crafts were one of Elynore’s favorite hobbies and she taught craft classes in the community until she was 90.  She also was an accomplished artist.  One of her favorite projects was creating porcelain dolls for family and friends. She was known as the “Doll Lady” of San Joaquin County.   She loved to travel to the mountains and the coast, where she felt nature was displayed at its fullest.

Elynore was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Andrew Maloney, children Michael Maloney, Katherine (Sue) Mann, Gertrude (Trudy) Felion and adopted son Michael (Mikie) Maloney.  She is survived by her sons Daniel Maloney and his wife Marilyn and Joseph Maloney of Manteca, 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and numerous others who called her grandma.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the El Rancho Mobile Home Park Clubhouse, 1830 E. Yosemite Avenue, Manteca, California.   Contributions can be expressed to The American Cancer Society, 1710 Webster, Oakland, CA 94612 or to the donor’s favorite charity.
