Brayden Vargas-Daniels scored two touchdowns for Sierra’s junior varsity team in a 22-14 win over Lathrop last Friday at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

Vargas-Daniels (four carries, 65 yards; two receptions, 50 yards) logged a 60-yard touchdown run and pulled in a 28-yard touchdown pass from Messiah Fernandez (9 of 15 passing, 112 yards; four carries, 4 yards). Issac Penaloza (10 carries, 36 yards; two receptions, six yards) added a 1-yard scoring plunge. Nicholas Jimenez added 52 yards on four receptions and 10 yards on two carries while Bruce Wedlow-Jones contributed to the offense.
Nicholas Jimenez paced the Sierra defense with seven tackles and a fumble recovery. Lizandro Saucedo added six stops, Isaiah Rankins and Anthony Tamayo five each, Issac Penaloza four with three apiece for Jo’syah Barry and Vargas-Daniels. Gabriel Ceren (fumble recovery), Noah Aguilar, Wedlow-Jones, Gabe Arias, Aaron Smith and Jeffrey Braga all contributed to the defense.

East Union 32, Modesto 7

East Union’s Izaiah Fay, Bobby Ramirez-Rin and Jonathon Morales each outgained the visiting Modesto offense all by themselves as the Lancers rolled the visiting Panthers.

Fay (104 yards rushing, touchdown runs of 7 and 18 yards), Morales (54 yards rushing, 50 yards passing, touchdown runs of 3 and 15 yards) and Ramirez-Rin (86 yards rushing, 25 yards passing, 75-yard touchdown run) all had more yardage than Modesto which had only 96 total yards. Andres Duque added 41 yards rushing.

Fay and Ethan Garcia each snagged an interception. Andon Robinson and Junior Evans tallied three stops apiece with Adres Duque, Hunter Wood, Jacob Hightower, Austin Robinson, Angelo Cervantes, Imagio Mack, and Bryce Hinrichs all contributing to the defense.

Manteca 14, Buchanan 8

The Buffaloes used a balanced attack on the road in Clovis.

Manteca’s Santino Sanchez (six carries, 47 yards; two receptions, 15 yards) scored on a 1-yard plunge and Anthony Bowen (11 carries, 44 yards; 4 of 8 passing, 33 yards) added a 9-yard touchdown run. Braden Andrews contributed to the offense.

Kyle Acker led the Buffaloes with six tackles and an interception followed by Garden Taufalele with five stops and Israel Juarez four. Eli Velasquez and Devin Cortinas each snagged an interception.

Ripon Christian 35, Stagg 12

Rocky Gonzalez and J.P. Postma each scored a pair of touchdowns for the host Knights.

Gonzalez (four carries, 28 yards; two receptions, 16 yards; 120 return yards) scored on runs of 14 and 23 yards. Postma (eight carries, 79 yards) added touchdown runs of 15 and 25 yards and Charlie Zylstra scored on a 5-yard run. Dane Nemeth contributed to the offense.

Zylstra paced the defense with six tackles. Deegan Vrieling (fumble recovery) added five stops, Jack Acosta (interception) four, with three each for Ryder Heuvel (interception) and Callen McWilliams. Levi Mouw contributed to the defense.

Buchanan 22, Manteca 7

Manteca’s Brayden Davis scored in the first quarter Thursday on a 50-yard pass from Jackson Coenenberg.

Landon Viss paced the visiting Buffaloes with 84 yards on eight carries for 84 yards. Jackson Coenenberg was 4 of 9 passing for 63 yards and Brayden Davis snagged two receptions for 75 yards.

Lathrop 28, Sierra 8

Hector Valdez scored for the Timberwolves on an interception return.
